You probably thought you had a hard job, but in today's article you'll find out what a hard and very low-paid job is.

What it means to work non-stop, toxic and dirty work that no one wants to do but the need to survive pushes some people to these jobs.

Homeless or unemployed people sort these bottles and sell them on to recycling companies for a small amount of money.


Workers have to sort hundreds of thousands of bottles by color (green, clear or brown).

First they sort by color, then remove the labels and caps.



Sulphur mining , East Java (Indonesia)





In East Java, Indonesia, there is the Ijen volcano.You might ask yourself, what kind of job could you have around a volcano...


Ijen volcano is an active volcano with lots of sulfur.

The miners who work here collect sulfur, an ingredient found in many products such as sugar, detergent, matches, etc.

But this job is very hard and very dangerous. Miners risk respiratory diseases and other diseases.





The sulfur smoke are very strong and workers have to use masks or towels because they can't afford a gas mask to protect themselves.

Also, temperatures in the volcano area can reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

The very dangerous working conditions mean that many miners never reach retirement age.




Sewer cleaner



Of course, sewer cleaners are not missing from this list.It is among the most unwanted jobs in the world because of the dirt, the very strong odour and the rodents, insects that crawl through the sewers.


Unfortunately, sewers are a danger because of bacteria left by rodents or human waste.

In poor countries, workers have to dive and clean the sewers without a special suit or mask and for this reason have a high risk of bacterial infections.


So,heat, risk of slipping, chemicals,odour and bacteria have a negative effect on their health and many of them suffer from skin diseases, anemia,vomiting and other harmfull diseases.
